The window of opportunity
for better health is slowly
closing... Will you wait too long?
RE: Many women wait too long to take the steps to become
well. Are you one of them?
The purpose of this website is to help educate women on how to
achieve better health and to understand how God designed their bodies
to function.
My hope is that you will be able to make better health
decisions for
yourself. Women who are aware of information pertaining to their
specific health needs, tend to make wise decisions that will better
their health in the long run.
If you are aware that certain treatments or procedures will lead to
further complications, you can avoid those things which may cause
problems down the road.
Although all health interests in general need a complete overhaul, my
main area of concern is women’s health issues. I desire to
minister to other women who may be prone to being taken advantage of or
have needs the medical profession is not to meeting.
Like
the beauty and working of a waterfall, the function of a
woman’s
body is amazing. The way everything works together and how one thing
affects another is a wonder of creation.
God says in 1 Corinthians 12:12 that the body is a whole unit, even
though it is made up from many different parts; and even though all its
parts are many and diverse they function together as one.
Understanding the function of a woman’s body will help us to
understand what happens when the body is changed by drugs or surgery.
Current Article: The Low Down on Folic Acid
Folic acid is a B vitamin needed for cell replication and growth. Folic
acid helps form building blocks of DNA, the body’s genetic
information, and building blocks of RNA needed for protein synthesis in
all cells. Therefore, rapidly growing tissues, such as those of a
fetus, and rapidly regenerating cells, like red blood cells and immune
cells, have a high need for folic acid. Folic acid deficiency results
in a form of anemia that responds quickly to folic acid supplementation.
In 1996, the FDA began to require that all enriched flour, rice, pasta,
cornmeal and other grain products contain 140 mcg of folic acid per 100
grams. Among people who do not take vitamin supplements, this amount of
food fortification has been associated with increased folic acid levels
in the blood and decreased blood levels of homocysteine.
Key Uses for Folic Acid
- Birth defects prevention
- Depression: A deficiency of folic acid can disturb mood; a
large percentage of depressed people have low folic acid levels.
- Gingivitis (periodontal disease) (rinse only): A 0.1%
solution of
folic acid used as a mouth rinse (5 ml taken twice a day for 30 to 60
days) has reduced gum inflammation and bleeding in people with
gingivitis in double-blind studies....
